Swings and Roundabouts

The weather has affected
this year's grapes harvest
so the output of wines
might not be the best.
While the spring was OK,
in summer we had drought;
the supply of good Chianti
was very much in doubt.
During the warm periods
the berries ripened sooner
but the yield was smaller,
not good for the consumer.
Yet it wasn't all bad news:
incongruously, lower quantity,
according to connoisseurs,
it is a sign of higher quality
because in difficult conditions
the most resilient and hardest
of grapes will pull through
and pass the survival test.
It's true what a proverb says,
and of that I have no doubt:
what you lose on the swing
you gain on the roundabout.

Well it's nice to know someone somewhere will be getting a nice glass of wine out of it Luigi! Apples are a write off apparently, so I pity the cider industry
