Tom Thumb was born

with a size minuscule.

But was he the subject

of the girls’ ridicule?

 

No, not on your Nellie,

they loved him to bits:

the French, the Italians,

the Germans, the Brits.

 

What was the reason

they liked him a lot?

He had the knack

for hitting the spot.

 

The interested parties

had a good natter

and then concluded

that size doesn’t matter.

Tom Thumb is a character of English folklore. The History of Tom Thumb was published in 1621, and was the first fairy tale printed in English.
Tiny folkloric characters like Tom are known in cultures around the world. They are not intended to be insulting or discriminatory and often are part of children literature.

No, I wasn't thinking of the tale as discriminatory, but intirgued that there seemed to be a picture there of the one who might be discriminated against or teased, actually helping those who felt rather awkward to accept him/her as a friendly person.
