Arcane Love

Scabrous words fall from your ignorant lips.
Pursuing a haven, they discover me.
Your eyes, resplendent, mirror disputes,
Where hot conflagration lies,
scarlet flames lick your body.
Neither pleasant nor lenient, they
Taste fear, love, and hate plied as one.
With a foulest glare sniped straight through
Numerous, vulnerable emotions
Cross your shocked-alabaster flesh.
In reality, no vestige of fire, but
Within imagination, I avenge you.
All your arduous cultivation,
For me an eternity ago--
Gone with the pale wind.
Like my once-tanned skin,
That bird tapering into deep frigidity,
and where frigid goes when winter sidles.
Your words deride me.
You are now superior;
Hawk to wriggling, weary worm,
Cat to modest, miserable mouse,
Golden greeting to gloomy goodbye.
My futile attempts to redeem old
Profoundness--now stored in an ebony niche,
Locked through sheer pleasure.
Your words bounce out of me,
Advancing from my mouth with rigor.
This arcane love now in implement
As I amble out, benumbed.
