The sun is rising slowly, peacefully, peeking over the hilltops to illuminute the world into a world of color, deep blue waves crashing onto the sandy shore. This, to most people, will be the perfect day to have a stroll on the beach, or possibly go for a nice swim. But not for Elaina. No, for her, this day is anything but wonderful. She can move, can`t percieve the odd shapes that are moving. What are the shapes and the odd noises they`re making?
"Elaina" She feels familiar with that word and the raspy voice that had spoken it, but she can`t locate her voice to answer. "Molly, call 911! Something`s wrong with Elaina!" Though she couldn`t see, tears streamed down his cracked face in terror. He touches her pale face gently and strokes her long black hair.
Soon, many other hands are touching her, none as comforting or gentle as her father`s. Her mother`s frail fingers are on her hand, and Elaina wants to grasp them back to comfort her beautiful mother into knowing she`s still there and she`s okay. But she can`t ; She has no control over her body, stored in a niche in her heart somewhere. No matter how hard she fights, blackness soon takes over and she can`t stop from going under.
When Elaina Johnson opens her eyes, she has no clue where she is at first. The room is alabaster all around, including the bed she lay in, which is slightly angled up for her comfort. She feels something on her face, and agitated, she reaches for it, ready to tear it off. When she feels the tubes, though, Something touches her hand and her eyes fly back open.
There is a man standing at her bedside, probably in his late 40s. His hair is black and balding, his skin wrinkled. "Did I startle you?" The man asks with an apologetic smile. His teeth are crooked, but his grin is warm and comforting enough. She can only stare at this strange man, Her dark gray eyes wide. and she wonders who he is and why he is touching her hand. "Can you understand me?"
"Yes," She whispers hoarsly, too weak too speak with any more volume.
He takes his hand off of hers and reaches for the wall behind her. "She`s awake"
The door opens a minute later, and a male doctor appears non the other side of her bed. His hair is spiky, skin smooth and dark and his smile isn`t very warm. His movements are blurred, along with his words.
"What?"
White teeth show in a smile that`s probably supposed to be comforting, and he speaks slower, reiterating, "Do you know this man?"
she looks at the man who had held her hand. He wears a hopeful smile, but his gray eyes look cloudy, dazed. She feels no recognition, has never seen this man before. His grin fades away evanscing to become somber. Her confusion peaks as the doctor informs her that the man is her father.
"I-- I don`t remember." His frown deepens and she looks back at the doctor. "There must be some mistake. Why am I here? Why--"
"we do not know Elaina." The doctor interupts.
She flinches at the last word. "Elaina...that`s m-my name?"
He nods and she begins to wonder where her mother is. Does she even have a real mother? A woman walks in soon after, and Elaina wondersif this is her mom. " Elaina, Oh my goodness, you`re awake!" She looks so releived, Elaina HAS to remember her... But she can`t. She doesn`t remember ever seeing this woman. Her black her fell well past her shoulders and her eyes were a deep jade filled with fear. "Whats wrong with her?"
"Well Mrs. Johnson, Your daughter seems to be having some memory problems."
