chapter 2 the present.

It was HP's birthday and he was off to the cinema with Sooty, his birthday treat from Sootys mum. He got out of bed, dressed and randownstairs, he had been looking forward to this day for a long time, but even more so since grandmas visit a week ago.

He went into the kitchen, where his mum was making his breakfast, HP's favourite, he sat down at the table and started to drink his milk, something else mum insisted on every day too.
"Are they ready yet mum, as i am really hungry" said HP
"Won't be long sweetie, have some toast whilst you are waiting" said mum.
HP took a piece of toast from the rack and buttered it,he looked around, nothing he thought, not a card, a present nothing, mum's forgotten he thought HP could feel the tears welling up in his eyes he wiped them away on his sleeve, he didn't want his mum to know how upset he was, after all she was finding it tough since dad was posted abroad, hp's dad was a sargeant in the army, he had been posted to iraq six months ago, and HP had seen how muvh his mum has struggled without him. HP missed his dad

mum dished up his pancakes, and sat with him at the table with a large mug of coffee, and buttering some toast, the phone rang, and hp ran to answer it. It was sooty.
"Happy Birthday Mate" shouts sooty down the phone
"What did you get then" he asked
"Nothing, mum has forgotten" he said sadly
"Oh bummer, i'll pop round later with your present and cheer you up mate" said sooty HP could hear sootys mum in the background calling him for breakfast he put the phone down and HP returned to the table to finish hiis breakfast.
HP picked up the brown sauce and squeezed some onto his pancakes then he noticed a white envelope leaning up against his milk glass, it read HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUBERT HP opened the envelope and found £40 inside the birthday card, his eyes widened.
"thanks Mum" said hp smiling " i thought you had forgotten" he said
"I spoke to your dad last night and we thought money would be a good idea, as we didn't know what you wanted" she said HP threw his hands around his mums neck and hugged her
"Is it ok if sooty and I go to the cinema this afternoon" said HP
"Of course it is sweetie, what are you going to see" she asked
"Ice age 2 and then we are going for a burger afterwards" he said HP disappeared upstairs, to put his money somewhere safe he spent the rest of the morning tidying his room and listening to music, waiting for sooty to arrive
"Hubert, Sabastian is here" shouts mum from the bottom of the stairs. HP turned off his stereo and grabbing his jacket made his way downstairs.
"Sooty hi there. how you doing" shouts HP
"I'm ok, mums given me enough money for both us to get in the cinema, and to have burgers afterwards too" said sooty
"Wow thats great your mums terrific" said hp "See you soon mum" he shouts as he and sooty make their way out the door and to the cinema.
They made their way to the bus stop and whilst they were waiting HP told sooty all about his grandma and her promise of the dog
"Wow you're so lucky to have a grandma like yours" said sooty the bus arrived and they made their way to the cinema, they enjoyed the film and the burgers afterwards, and on the way home HP was willing the bus to go faster in the hope that grandma had arrived with his present. he arrived at the door and made his way into the lounge, and there sitting on the sofa was grandma and she was holding something rather small in her arms.
"hi sweetie, heres your present" said Grandma "Happy birthday" she said as she holds up the most cutest little dog.
"Wow a jack russell, oh grandma he's beautiful" said HP taking the dog from grandma and hugging him
"You're the best grandma" said HP "The best ever"
