The day started with a trip to Besgo's on the free coach. Fun huh?
Half way around the store – I was tired – I need loads of sleep. I was crossing the bottom of the aisles to get some water when a tall man shot out of the end of the aisle before my destination, and shouted, "Oh it's stinky!"
A shop girl stacking the shelves, retorted, "I can't smell anything." She was genuinely puzzled. I sniffed the air. She was absolutely right. No smell at all. She dropped down from her perch and came to investigate. "No I can't smell anything." she repeated.
He sang back from futher away, "It's a strong smell around that corner!"
Having investigated, and found nothing, she went back to stacking the shelves.

I went home, developed a headache, felt unwell. Extremely tired out. I couldn't place the man from the brief glimpse. Not then. Later when I was alone again, I sat on the sofa to play Crush Candy. Having taken Paracetamol I fell asleep.
About 20:30 pm a tall man appeared at the window. He was screaming at someone else.
"She's asleep!" he yelled.
I woke up, and he was muttering. I knew him then. "The Queen sent me, sent a knight,
and she's asleep."
I said nothing. I looked at him. It was young Black the half giant. Aleister had taken me to meet the Blacks in Norfolk long ago. So I would know and never be scared of them again.
Slowly he stopped the mutter. His wife who had been with him earlier said something behind him, laughed.
The window had been left wide open. I stayed very still.
He backed off.
I could hear the slap of his wellies. Did he really think I wouldn't know his calling? If he'd been a knight, he'd have manners enough to use the doorbell. Honestly!

Upstairs the witches hummed furiously – their plot had come undone.
One said dryly, "Look at the physical sides of that thing!" I could hear the admiration in her voice.
I sent back, as dry, "He's your's then."
"I can't have him," she raged, "It wasn't me he came to see. He's married see."
"I thought that was his dog," I replied cheerfully, "In the shop she was pushing him into it."
"His dog?" Maria replied giggling, "Do you think she is?
"It's young Black," I said, knowingly, "As you say his game is over. Since I know him."
Outside his dog began to bark. He spoke to it sharply.
"Wait," she said crossly, "How do you know?"
"That would be telling," I sent back tiredly. "I like sleep."

"What are the ones who live underground?" said a voice.
"The Picts." I told it. "Can I sleep now?"
