A Vendor’s Tale of Old Books!
In the silence of the soul,
Light is the essence of being.
I wandered up the road today,
parched pavement cracked.
Time’s eternal magic carpet – an
Abstract blend of the impossible.
In the essence of the light,
being is the silence of the soul.
I find the books hard to sell,
The writing is so old and mildewed.
Books written before I was born,
shrink under the 20p barrier of freedom.
In the soul, the being Light
Is the essence –
The story of Edith Cavel;
as told by a soldier, swarms
with germ life, the pictures
catch breath moments before
The soul became Light
And the essence was silenced.
The would be buyer
has cold feet, won’t allow her
another moment! He consigns
the book to the funeral fire.
In the beginning
There was Light.
