Warning from the bank

Lloyds Bank advise all female pensioners.
To watch out for Romance scams,
since the average
Age of victims is beyond 65,
with a spree – self mutilation -
Of good intentions totalling eight grand.
Love is expensive.
It is February, the rose of months.
When love abounds, as the flowers unfold
And the senses warm to weather.
This year, we have cold warnings,
Either freezing fog, or at least
A negative number in temperature
Will this cool the hand that guides
The bank account?
So remember Ladies, no matter how
Warm your inner thoughts rise,
They should pay for you –
They should hold open doors –
And say thank you for the press of your hand.
Or the tiny kiss on the cheek after 10 weeks –
Because after all – love is formed of friendship
Not lust, or loneliness. Nor the bitter cold –
Or the lack of electric blanket. Relax, enjoy
Exhale. Recall, why you live alone.
Then enjoy your life, live it your way.
Because whatever mistakes you make
And how much is left in the bank
Equals the cost of it all.
