Choirs in the night wake me

Choirs in the night wake me
Like tinkling leafs in rain
Somehow wind must take me
Carry me dreaming—again
To that figment of a memory
That always remains the same
To my darling I’ll love, forever
Though she’s—already—forgotten my name
Choirs in the night wake me
Like a creature filled with fear
I look round the darkness
And know that you’re not here
It fills me with sadness
It fills me with tears
Though I have loved you darling
I haven’t in years
Choirs in the night haunt me
Shackle me with pain
Though I have loved you always
You don’t know my name
The wind it is a howling
Like a tempest in the storm
But in my heart lies empty
The shipwreck of my soul
If only we’d been faithful
To the feelings in our hearts
Then maybe we’d been much more able
To finish what we start
