A soft temperance smile, brakes
-From the bars of a raging sea;
Where wave on salt, corrosive wave
Once purged two lovers their sweetest melody.
But age & faith are truer friends
Than youth in all her guises;
That's why lovers can allure, amends
From all their cold deceits.
Because the greyer the storm light folds
The deeper & brighter true love burns
In her autumn, coals.

Imagery superb, especially
Imagery superb, especially the last three lines:
'Because the greyer the storm light folds
The deeper and brighter love burns
In her autumn coals'
However, I think 'temperance' is a noun, which you are misusing as an adjective. Should it be 'temperant'? Not sure whether that's correct, no OED to hand.
Anyone?
