Alison
just another
elvis costello song
for me
she was much more
than
a pop song
she walked by my
house
every day
watched by a
14 year old
as she strolled
down the road
smiling to
to herself
oblivious of my
passion
I knew
her name,
but still Alison
would not hear the
words I
wished to speak
when I saw
her at the
top
of the hill
I'd walk out
the door
Just to walk by her
to be near her
to see her
to smell her
she'd be smiling to
herself
then she smiled
at me as our paths
crossed
I could do
nothing
and then the
moment
passed
years go by
we meet
by chance
she finally hears
my name
and emboldened
by Stella
I ask her
out
we talked
laughed
no
romance
I wish
she had
remained
a fantasy
too late
