Duvet

she slept in my bed last night
but I wasn't there
I was on the sofa next door

when she left
I got into the bed
and breathed in her scent

the duvet smelled of her
and I fell asleep
wrapped in the duvet
and embraced by her scent

she slept in my bed last night
but I could not be with her
she made it quite clear

the nearest I will get is
the duvet

sleeping with the duvet
awaking to her scent
almost felt her there
with me

behind my bedroom door
I could only lie awake
in the living room
hoping for her call
