Would I survive in a post apocalyptic world &;#063;

So I'm all alone
after the big one hit
or the killer virus
which didn't kill me

maybe aliens abducted everyone
but somehow missed me out
and are now conducting alien experiments
on all my mates

I emerge from my shelter
and nervously breathe the air
relieved after all that stale air
enhanced by a tinned food diet

what do I do now
do I come over all Mel Gibson
warrior of the wasteland
eating dog food
and scrounging petrol
or wander a deserted urbanscape
like omega man chuck heston

Could I cope with being alone
or would it drive me to seeking
the company of others
who might not be safe

Could be a whole slave culture out there
and I don't look good in chains

How will I get around
I can't mend cars and doubt I
could cannibalise something out of
abandoned wrecks
I instantly regret not watching
Scrap yard Challenge

Will my shoes last the pace
all that wasteland wandering
but I'll be able to find
abandoned shoe shops
with limitless supplies of fashionable
footwear

Will I emerge as a leader
gather together the abandoned
and dispossessed
and lead them Messiah-like
to a promised land

and how about violence
Could I
Would I
be
Violent
can I practice
safe
self preservation

Life will be cheap
and death could visit me
without warning

but at least Monday mornings
will change forever.
