Amber Glow

Gazing through the glass panes of a window
across the frost stained fields a ‘yonder like,
a freshly powder christmas cake- the metaphor of
a season's harvest of berries and warmth in our hearts.
This festivity coloured burgundy and green echoed
in the colour scheme of tweed and lambs wool
as i work the moors.
This beauty matched by no other season.
The bitter cold contrast with the amber glow
of a candlelit room, as we keep each other warm.
Tales of autumn and our Lord litter through conversation
thatched with cheer and laughter, the clink of caskets of beer
and sizzle of roasted meat.
This is the season of happiness, as the warmth of our
hearts and soul as we sing together frosts the window pane-
condensation that keeps us going through the night
hand in hand- tomorrow a new day.
