Yesterday was my day off, I decided to go to my favourite shop, TKMaxx, to get to the one I wanted to go to, I only go by train. It is quick and when I get there, I don’t have to worry about parking. It is only twenty minutes on the train.
As I arrived at the train station I looked over to where the free Metro newspapers are, and I could see that they, had some, I never take from the top, so I put my hand underneath the pile and took three. I use them to line the cat litter boxes, for our elderly cat Nanny.
On the train there and back I didn’t read them, I was on my phone practicing my Italian, with Duolingo, playing Words With Friends, and looking on Facebook.
This morning when I was changing Nanny’s cat litter, I picked up the Metro and the headlines, it caught my attention;
“Drink Drive, Death of Our Angels.” Woman 74 arrested after crash. I wouldn’t expect a woman that old to be drunk and driving, that is the sort of thing I would expect from a teen.
Destiny was only 25 years old and her young daughter was only 5.
A local shopkeeper, said, “Lots of little accidents have happened at that spot, it is amazing more people haven’t died before now, and the school children have to cross that road.”
Out of this tragedy, they may do something about it, the Council, like set up cameras, so that the traffic can be reduced to 20mph with traffic lights. This way their deaths won’t be in vain.
The woman is said to have been either drunk or on drugs, she has been released. I hope she goes to jail for a long time and is banned from driving for life!
To be banned for life would not seem so bad, for there is nothing she can ever do, to bring back the lives she has taken.
Rest in Peace Destiny and Linnea. Xx
