I remember the total shock when I heard that Elvis had died! There was shock around the whole world! It was the Biggest news, and also watching his funeral on telly. Remembering that he had also died the same age as him beloved Mum age just 42. I used to love watching his concerts, watching as he was first slim and then put weight on. It was Very sad. Over the years since his, death, I have watched many programmes and concerts and documentaries, about him. I love all his songs, I thought I had heard all of them, until one came out and went, I believe to the top of the charts that I had never ever heard before! I love the video of it, that song, is called, ‘A Little Less Conversation’ What a Fantastic song.
Some of my favourite songs by Elvis is:-
Where Could I Go but To the Lord,
Take My Hand Precious Lord,
In The Garden,
If We Never Meet Again,
You’ll Never Walk Alone,
He Touched Me,
He Is My Everything,
Crying In the Chapel,
Amazing Grace,
It is No Secret What God Can Do,
We Call on Him,
How Great Thou Art,
Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus,
Somebody Bigger Than You & I,
Stand By Me,
Known Only to Him,
Why Me Lord,
Farther Along,
Can’t Help Falling in Love,
Suspicious Minds,
In The Ghetto,
If I can Dream,
Always On My Mind,
My Way.
This was proper music; they don’t make them like this anymore. For me Elvis IS my favourite male singer of all time! Whitney is my favourite female singer of all time. My Mum has heard of Elvis, even though she has dementia, she still knows of Elvis. That is because he is famous and known around the world.
Yesterday, when breaking news popped up on my phone that Liam Payne from One Direction had died, I knew the name, but if I was shown a picture of all of them in the band, and was asked to point him out, I would not be able to; nor do I know all their Christian names or surnames. They are famous, I don’t know how famous, I don’t know if they are known around the world. I can’t tell you one song that they sang.
I screenshot it, and text it to my daughter Meghan, she texts back, “OMG!” Then I suppose as it got around the world, 15 minutes after it was first made known, it would have been trending, on social media!
My Mum has never heard of One Direction nor Liam Payne, and like a friend of mine on Facebook she is a musician, she says, “I wasn’t a fan, but sorry to hear of his passing,” I added, “Neither was I.”
Instantly, there has been SO many theories, Drugs, Ex-girlfriend, Suicide, Murder! I said, to another friend today, “I hope it wasn’t suicide, and I hope it wasn’t murder!” Death is not pretty, especially as he fell from the third floor.
I think of his young son Bear, age just 7.
Rest in Peace, Liam age just 31.

Interesting to compare with
Interesting to compare with Elvis' death, which I remember quite clearly. Like you, One Direction have largely passed me by and I now know Liam's name! I suppose that is just a matter of my age, although I have heard one or two of their songs, which are okay. I do remember news of the early deaths of John Lennon, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, both around 1980, and of course that other most amazing drummer Keith Moon of The Who in 1978, all of which had a big impact on me and My Generation at the time. Elvis certainly had a quality which seemed unique and has been missed. What is it about stardom, which can so destroy people? John Lennon was particularly sad because, unlike the others he did not destroy himself, but was destroyed by a mixed up American with a Gun!

I remember that day
I remember that day too, I was six, the mother of my littlle friends where I played was crying like a baby bawling like mad she put up quite a performance. They say there is always someone better than you, but I think of two who were really "The Greatest". Elvis and Muhammed Ali.
Very interesting peace & Nolan
