It Is Enough To Make You Walk!

I renewed my car insurance, recently I left it rather late, to renew. I didn’t go over the time, I did it on a Friday and it was due on the Sunday. It is an on-line Company, but most things I do not do on-line but over the phone. That is what I like best, a human voice, of reassurance and a change to ask any questions.
The car insurance Company was found by a work colleague who I work with, it is his world. He got me a good deal, I was very pleased, slowly over the years though, it has gone up slightly.
Last week it went up to over £600, a jump in one year of over £200. Shocked people have said, to me, “Didn’t you shop around?” I replied, “No, I didn’t have time.”
I paid it all at once. What was I thinking, it made a huge dent in my bank balance. I rang up the Company over a week later, and asked, “Can I change it to monthly payments?” But was told, “No, it is now live.” And she added, “Is there anything else I can help you with?” I replied, “No, thank you.”
I thought my car insurance was high, until I heard my daughters. She bought her first car; she had saved up and paid for it in full. Meghan’s car insurance was £2,400!!!! Flipping heck!
I thought that was bad, until I was speaking with a single mother, she told me, “My eighteen-year-old daughter, she was quoted £7,000 for her car insurance, she can’t afford that, and neither can I, so I have become her taxi.”
I told Meghan, “When you were tiny, a man knocked over and killed a boy age twelve, the man had not past his driving test, he did not have any tax or insurance on his car. He went to jail for ONLY six weeks, and then he came out.” With such a harsh punishment, he is not likely to do that again.
All been well, I do not plan to pay that kind of money to insure my car, next year, I plan to shop around, I would love to buy another classic old, proper mini, like one I had before I had kids, Paul says, “No, as they break down a lot.” To be fair, the seven-seater car I drive now, does not break down, I do not need a big car anymore as I do not go to craft fairs.
I suppose everything will be even more expensive next year, so I might have to sell the car. I will have to fall in love with the bus again, or walk.

It's a sad fact that we live
It's a sad fact that we live in an age where you have to be so careful with not only car insurance, but a lot of other things too. I feel especially sorry for old people that don't understand technology. I always use the phone, because I too like to speak to a human and not a machine.
It's a shame you can't get your mini, I too had a mini once upon a time, it was my baby and I loved her, she was a great run around and was a pleasure to drive. But now I don't drive at all, as I had too many near accidents and don't trust myself with my anxiety.
I hope things work out for you in the end.
Jenny.
