No Leg To Stand On.

No leg to stand on.
About five years ago my husband asked me to, “Buy a camera for your car for the front and the back.” I wanted to save some money and, I thought what would happen if I forgot to take the cameras, out each time I left the car! What a hassle that would be, and if I left them in my car, would I be a target for thieves?
From then and till yesterday, there were many times I wished I did have cameras fitted, as there are a lot of silly people on the roads.
I was going to work, I had just left home, my narrow road is one way, with cars parked on both sides. Cars, motorbikes, bicycles, and motor scooters, still come down the road the wrong way.
I say to my family, “Still look both ways when you cross, as traffic still go down the wrong way.”
I was driving to work yesterday and yet another person was coming towards me, it was a young lad on a bicycle, I could see his fishing rod sticking out, not front to back, but left to right, and I thought surely, he is not gonna keep coming at me in the wrong way at that speed?
Without respect for me or my car, or his life, as he drove past me, I felt he touched my car, I looked in my rear-view mirror and he looked back at me.
When I arrived at work, I looked at my driver’s side, where he had past, and there it was, from one end of my car to the other the thickest scratch I had ever seen!
I was SO angry with him, but what could I have done? If I had gone around the block and confronted him, he is much bigger than I am, I could have asked him for his name and address, but would it have been the real information?
I don’t know how much it will cost to repair a large seven-seater car?
I wouldn’t recognise him, if I saw him again on the street, I only know he was dressed in gray.
My first thought, when I saw the damage, was, if I had a camera fitted, I could put it on social media and then he would not escape his actions of silliness.
He knows he has got away with it, for we both felt it and heard it.
I told my husband, and he didn’t say, “I told you so!” Wisely, he didn’t reply to my text.
So, now I know what I must do, get cameras for the front and the back, it does feel like I closed the stable door after the horse has bolted!
