Short Stories. Part Five.

Today outside my local Tesco, a man sat outside, and begged. He said to everyone as they and I walked past him, “Can I have 50p?”

He said this as he was enjoying a Magnan ice cream. I thought as I looked at him, I can’t afford to buy Magnum ice cream, but Tesco’s own brand.

I thought all those 50p’s all add up, he must get a lot, if he can buy Magnum ice cream.

My Husband who smokes, told me,

“I saw a beggar, smoking the most expensive brand,” He himself can’t afford that, so he uses roll-ups.

Other beggars we have seen, have the latest smartphones!
