The Very Best.

Since Wilko has shut down, I have had to shop around. Usually, I buy my cat food from Tesco, it is usually £5 or just under for a pack of 6 tins. We have 6 cats and they have between them 2 tins in the mornings with whatever meat that I have saved for them from last night’s meals, but if there is nothing left over from last night, then I have tasty sachets that I add on the tops of each dish. I will share out 2 sachets between the 6 cats’ meals, as their treats. They also have 2 tins in the afternoon.

Because Wilko closed, it made a big difference, and so I shopped around and in so doing, found a shop that I didn’t use to shop in regular, Home Bargains!

What a fabulous shop. As I have now discovered this shop, lots of the items that I use to buy at Tesco I now buy there on a regular basis. This includes, laundry tablets, a 100% bargain! I have also discovered they too do cat food, a pack of 6 for well under £4. Our cats they love it, but recently as I was dishing it out for them, I happen to look at the ingredients and was horrified and saddened to see that it is only 4% meat or fish in each tin!

There I was, thinking I was giving my cats the very best, and what looked like succulent chunks of meat, wasn’t! I don’t know what it is, how can they trick us so?

It reminded me of the time when people thought they were eating steak, when in fact it was horse meat!

Today we will be shopping at Tesco, I will make a point of looking at the ingredients of our cats usual and see if it too has as little as 4% meat or 4% fish in it too.

Paul has said, to me, “They have to stick to the minimum required amount, so that it is a complete meal.”

I suppose he has a point, but I am a bit disappointed. If Tesco has more meat or fish per tin, then I will switch back to the Tesco brand. I want to give my cats the very best that I can give them, not just what looks the best or cost less.

You have more cats than I do! (Four).

They get fed via Tesco and, I think, special food from Pets at Home. You do have to keep an eye on what's in animal food, like you say.

I dont usually look on the tin to see what the ingredient is I am glad I looked will look later when I go to Tesco and see what is inside their tins of cat good x

So I went to Tesco and bought the usual Tesco's own brand that my Cats have eaten for years, I looked at the ingredients it said it contained 4% chicken! There was a lot of other 'stuff' added with strange and odd words that also was in the tin, which I thought was ashame, but I suppose it would be Very expensive if it was full of chicken, so I suppose you get what you pay for. 

There is an advert on at the moment that advertise raw meat for cats and dogs, I bet that would cost a pretty penny. 

I bought reduced pate and mini cooked sausages yesterday for my cats and dogs as their treats. So our pets do not miss out, they do well. 

I suppose all the tin cat food sellers, they look at each other and do the very minimum, so there is only 4% meat in each tin. Our cats they are all well and healthy, bright as buttons. I will keep on buying the cheaper brand from Home Bargains, now I know they are not missing out. x
