I have worked for the same Company for many decades, almost thirty years. I have seen many changes, all for the better. It was very hard work, before and now through trial-and-error things have improved, working conditions and through training. I now work with new young work colleagues, they do not know about the times before, the bad old days. Sometimes when I tell the odd one about what it was like before, they are there opened mouth with shock.
A young person in my family wants to go to Poland. We are all different, it is not a place I have been to, nor had I given it a second thought of somewhere I would like to go. I have seen beautiful pictures of it on the telly. I have been to fabulous Paderborn in Germany, forty years ago.
There are fabulous countries years ago, China, Japan, Germany, Poland, and others, during and after the War people’s views changed.
Now those who experienced the horrors of war, a lot of them are no longer with us. If they were still with us, more than likely they would not visit, for a luxury holiday. A colleague told me yesterday, “My son and his girlfriend, will be going to Japan this year for two weeks, it will cost over £5000.”
It is good that the past is forgotten, for me, who is not keen on any travel abroad, for countries constantly in the news when I was growing up, there are some countries that I would never visit, even if it was a free holiday.
