On my way to my cousin’s house to get my Mum, who has spent the day there. Three things happened, that I didn’t expect to happen.
The first thing that happened was, as I was driving down a side road, with cars closely parked on both sides of the road. It always makes me a bit nervous going down this road, because it is actually for two-way traffic, so if a car was to come from the other end of the street, that would be a problem.
I was concentrating on, hoping that a car would not turn into the road, from the other end. When suddenly, a small opening on my right appeared, and I could see a small child a boy, aged about two years old, sitting on the path, and a young girl aged about three was standing between two parked cars, with a ball in her hand.
She dropped the ball, and for a split second my heart stopped, for I thought, is she going to follow the ball?
I waited to feel, something to hit my seven-seater car, the ball, the child, thankfully neither.
I can only assume, the ball rolled underneath my car, to the other side of the road and the tiny child had stayed put! Where were their parents! It is times like this, I wished I had listened to my husband and got a camera for my car! The day before, it was on the news a child age just two had drowned in a canal, again where were the parents?
That has shaken me, but worse was to come in a few minutes. I was driving and near my cousin’s house, I was approaching the junction, when suddenly, a car appeared around the corner, at what seemed like one hundred miles per hour! If he was ten inches nearer to me, he would have killed us both, in a heartbeat! It happened that fast, there was no time, for my life to flash before my eyes. I can be a carful driver, but it is people like that, that makes it scary. They are irresponsible! Usually, drivers like that, don’t kill themselves, it is the other people they kill. But if he was another few inches, it would have been curtains, for us both! It would have been an awful way to go. Having a camera on my car would not have helped, for both cars would have been destroyed by the fires and impacts.
Then at my cousin’s house, Mum had just come inside and was enjoying “Mrs Bucket,” On the telly, I went into the garden to say hi to everyone, and thinking there was one step into the garden, and not two, I slipped, thankfully I didn’t fall over, that would have been nasty as the steps, they are concrete.
Three close shaves, all in the short space of ten minutes.
