No More Romancing

Ballroom echoes,
Evening laughter,
Chairs on tables,
Stale champagne.
Party streamers in my hair,
Driving home alone again.
Dirty glasses,
Standing empty,
Full of hope,
The night before.
Was it drink that made you say,
You didn't want me any more.
You did it with such charming ease.
Held my hand so tight.
Told me you'd be going home,
With someone else tonight.
Dreams of romance,
Wine and song,
Dancing with you,
All night long.
One more night of tears and pain,
Driving home alone again.
Dancefloor shadows in my bed,
Going round inside my head.
Lying there while she's with you.
Doing what I used to do.
That's all for me, no more dancing.
No more playing games with fire.
No more love, no more romancing.
No more angels in the choir.
No more tears, no more pain.
Nothing left to lose or gain.
