You put your washing on the line
when the weather forecast was for the big yellow sunshine
and the travel reporter said all the roads are clear
and the dishwasher has been filled with salt
and all the trousers have been ironed
even though they didn't to be, you just like ironing.
The kitchen was clean it's so hard to get rid of
coagulated porridge, scooping it into the bin
wiping the surfaces until they smelt of lemon.
Your tortoises have never been happier
and both your children are so good at telling stories
and you went for a run in your new trainers
but the rain cloud that wasn't supposed to be there
turned up without its lanyard,
walked through security without any accrediation.

Your talent for saying everything in a gentle something, is enviable.
