I forgot to mention the moon

Star gazing is pretty boring
and now we’ve had to put cardboard over the skylight in our bedroom,
smashed when we were away
on a disappointing honeymoon is Paris
Eiffel Tower workers were on strike
and our hotel double booked the suite,
didn’t even help us carry our cases

to the Travel Lodge across the road
and when we found the shards of glass over our duvet,
the muddy footsteps over our carpet, two men,
one much bigger than the other,
we were sat waiting for the police
and you seemed disappointed when I told you
that stargazing is pretty boring anyway
you have to stay up late
and there are often too many clouds
