I’d been planning my small talk for month.

‘What’s it like to be a croupier?’ I was going to ask.

‘Just keep playing Blackjack’ Ron told me.

There’s always a Ron.

I took it as a complimented that Ron has said

We’ll get him to be the croupier decoy.

In a way it’s the finest compliment you can get.

I walked away from that first meeting thinking

Well I’ve done pretty well for myself here.

Not like Andy who has to deal with that chandelier

Or Amanda, poor Amanda, on pepper spray duty yet again.

She always gets the worst jobs.
