Tents

Do you remember when we were stood outside my tent
3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. Boozey. It had been a fun
night with all our friends and sometimes you can tell
what the other person is thinking. We could go inside
that tent and when we woke up we won't regret anything.
There are too many times like that. Moments standing
outside a tent with someone I like and if I saw a photograph
of that moment I would think they are beautiful and they're
in love but instead nothing and I was never very good at
festivals. I never really got the hang of putting up my tent
or taking it down again on the Monday morning.

I love this little vignette.
I love this little vignette. The poignant, seemingly throwaway last lines are perfect.

Profundity captured by that
Profundity captured by that little tent and imagined connections and the realisation, stark and grey, that there's not much else.

Because putting up tents is
Because putting up tents is so grown up somehow. This beautiful piece is our Facebook and Twitter Pick of the Day.
Get a great reading recommendation every day.
