This is War!

(Mental Health)
Fighting, for free, in my head while absorbed in the costly highs and the lows.
Intricately, my consciousness will sew needless penance when, in truth, I desire to turn society’s perception of us.
So, with anxious breaths, I will give it a go for me and you:
Unchartered territory, on the frontline, and my sight is blurry and blind in the mind as the poison rises.
It is never quiet on the Somme or the Seine, where bullets fire from the rivers in my subconscious, where eerie thoughts reside.
The stench of the past haunts me.
Gut-wrenchingly, it does flaunt and I surrender.
Swiftly, the ammunition grazes across trenches in my mind’s delusion and so,
the madness comes to fruition.
Call me mute in mental stability with auditory, synaesthesia-inclusive, and illusive coloured interpretations.
The whistle pierces resoundingly but I am already ‘over the top’, as
I succumb to the belief that I am not deaf to the mind’s perception.
The sordid taste in my subconsciousness has prepared me for attrition.
However, foolishly, this soldier wishes that the war in my mind was over!
