40 Years

40 years in the wilderness, with tears and fears ,

day after day looking for a way to the promised land.

With disappointments and doubt in times of hunger and drought

where nothing made sense , no one could understand .

40 years in the wilderness, talking without knowing who’s there ,

walking without going anywhere ,

stopping but never staying ,

always hoping and praying for the day ,

when they would finally get there .

40 years in the wilderness ,

trusting in faith , putting on a brave face ,

answering every demand ,

leading on where no one had ever gone ,

every day with each step ,

of the way to find the promised land   .

Who could have conceived

it would have taken 40 years to get there ,

who would have believed

for 40 years in a promised land somewhere ,

who would have wandered and weaved

through a wilderness God had planned ,

Moses lived and breathed

and he found a way to the promised land .
