The Chosen One

Frankie Green was a gifted gardener . They said he could grow crops on concrete if he wanted . Nicknamed Yankee Green finger he established some of the worlds first advanced hydroponic gardens around some large coastal regions of many countries . Desalinating water from the oceans and then recycling that purified water through pipes into organic growing chambers the result in the end was mass production of vegetables and other crops that were an essential food source all over the planet .

With the threat of nuclear war a real danger to mankind, global think tanks were set up to look at ways mankind could survive the nuclear winter and how we could continue to grow crops and manufacture food for the years when the sun would be blocked out from the sky and the oceans would be frozen .

World leaders were becoming more than concerned now with as global  warming had now got to a point where most of the earth’s fertile land had been transformed into barren deserts and the tensions between superpowers were getting extreme . If mankind was going to survive a miracle needed to be found .

When the world needed an answer then came the man . ‘The brainchild to the green fields in space project belonged to  Frankie Green . The amazing idea of Yankee Green Finger was firstly to establish green nursery gardens on space stations in orbit around the earth to grown seedings which would be transferred to   green domes on the moon . These green domes is where all the crops would be grown . Inside the green domes a sustainable environment would be manmade . The building of the green domes would be done on Earth and tested out before bringing them to the moon for assembly .

Inside the green domes is where fertile soil from the earth would be brought and with the aid of robotics the cultivation of crops could be carried out . Withing the green domes there would be artificial lighting and heat along with massive irrigation system fed through pipes from water tanks along side the oxygen tanks that would maintain the correct environment for growing crops in space . Each harvest would then be exported back to earth to provide food during a nuclear winter to barren planet with no hope of growing crops  .

The Green Fields in space was given a green light by all the Governments around the Earth and the seed of this idea was watered and nourished and worked on until the first of the green nursery gardens space stations were in orbit. 

The next and most important part of the project was the establishment of the green domes on the moon . A huge artificial work environment was build on the moon to house all the construction crews . This was the first attempt made by man to live on another planet . With electro magnet batteries driven by an internal recharging system there was an on going power supply . The first of the man made construction sites were built in the spot where the green domes would be established .

Under the watchful eye of Yankee Green Finger the first of the green domes was finished and ready to accept the first batch of seedlings from the green nursery gardens in orbit on the space stations .

The project was working . An entire robotic crew was placed inside the green domes and functioning well . For the first month Yankee Green Fingers was going to remain there alone on the moon to observe the growth and cultivation within the domes .

During the time the project took to become a living , breathing reality , climate change had made an impact on the entire surface of the earth. Extreme heat made life uninhabitable and many underground dwellings had been built for people to escape the burning heat of the sun .

Global warming was uncontrollable and an advanced methods of solar heat deflectors were being erected in all around the earth . Even after the temperatures on earth would be reduced it would take many years  for the deserts to be made fertile again .

The man on the moon  had come through . Yankee Green finger had  set up in a  short while the only resource known for growing crops .

Living alone for a while was a little different than what Yankee was used to . He never saw anyone other than robots for most of the day but still he was happy in the green domes doing what he loved to do best .

He dressed up like a robot just to fit in . His helmet was inspired by thise worn by ancient knights in medieval times .

His body armour consisted of leather with light metal plates here and there to make him look kind of like a robot .

One night as Yankee was checking the monitor screes around the green dome he noticed something very strange happening outside the perimeter around the complex . There was some movement on the moons surface . Suddenly a number of hatches opened and from under the moons surface a large number of egg shaped space craft out came floating and hovering before entering and landing outside the entrance door to the green dome .

In a state of shock Yankee never reacted to what was happening and   within a short space of time the green domes had been invaded by alien creatures who had disabled all the alarm systems and communication equipment . One of the creatures approached . It was surrounded by  a bright light and as the creature stoof before Yankee it spoke .

“Do not be afraid man , we will not harm you . You are the chosen one ”

“Who are you and what do you want ?”

Yankee said .

“We are the Moonlings and we are the dwellers of the moon . Our race have been living underneath the surface here for a very long time . Once our planet was like yours filled with oceans and islands with trees and  mountains with flowers and creatures that swam and flew like you have on Earth . Our planet was destroyed by climate change and in a similar way Earth is also in danger of becoming a desolate rock with all your people forced yto living under the surface. “

“Why are you here telling me all this?”

Yankee replied ,

Another creature approached holding a silver tube . He reached the tube to Yankee and said .  

“With this device you can save your planet before it’s too late . “

Yankee took the silver tube and said  

What is this device ?”

The creature replied .

 “What you hold in your hands is an implant . Once it is opened into your atmosphere an extra molecule will charge and infuse a new ozone layer all around your planet which will shield you from the harmful rays of the sun and in a short time your climate will return to normal . You must hurry and tell your leaders to use what we have given to save the earth”

“This is a miracle . How can we ever thank you ?”
Yankee said and the Moonling replied .

“Thanks is Man’s way of appreciation , our thanks is in knowing we can save another planets from being destroyed .“

“How many devices will it take to repair the earths atmosphere ?”

Yankee said and the creature replied

“We shall leave one of these molecule implants in each of the oval shaped craft around your dome building . That is more than enough to do the job . The code to open the devices is 1969 , the year when your race first landed here on our planet . That code must be pushed on every device as you re-enter the earths atmosphere and as soon as you do that the new ozone layer will be created . Goodbye man . Live long and happy lives .“

The Moonlings all smiled and left the green domes and returned under the surface of the moon . As the hatches on the surface all closed all the communication equipment was restored and Yankee contacted the central headquarters on Earth about what had just happened .

There were many sceptics at first but at once they were silenced by the video footage of all the devices and the  egg shaped craft that had been left around the perimeter of the green garden domes .

A day later a fleet of space commuter vehicles from earth arrived . Each of them took a molecule implant device on board and in a sequenced operation called 03 Delivery they were opened and released on re-entry to the earths atmosphere .The result was indeed a miracle . Immediately a new blue hazy layer of ozone was clearly visible by all the cameras that orbited the earth .

The effects was almost immediate with temperatures dropping to normal all over the earth . Thanks to the Moonlings the earth had been saved and man lived happily on the planet forever .
