The Christmas Shindig
By Paul McCann
I woke up on Christmas morning
and the little people were all here
without an invitation
they drank my Irish whiskey
and the beer .
They were playing tunes , dancing jigs
and singing party songs in my ear ,
what a Christmas time we all had
the house was filled with lots of good cheer .
They brought crocks of gold
and told stories as old as the hills
we without end .
After the party and I’d sobered up ,
there were no more little men .
Never mind said I ,
it was still a great night
and there’s still the new year .
I hope they return who ever they were ,
it was great when they were here
.
