With all of the hunger and disease in poverty stricken land sin the world today
I am proud of the large number of Irish nurses , Doctors , Clergy and volunteers that are working in lands that are riddled with poverty, violence, and corruption . These people are today’s living Saints .
They are the real walking and talking image of Christ in the world today .
Their personal mission is to help others in real need . Physically , Spiritually , Emotionally , Socially , and Economically .
Too many people exist with nothing and they live in abject poverty .
They are shamed and abused because of it .
They are spat on and insulted because they are poor and disadvantaged .
They are treated like dirt . Walked over and chained by those who deem themselves to be some kind of superior being .
In order to assist a need and heal some of the wounds inflicted by mans own inhumanity to man first there must be an understanding that we all live together with the injustice and that has to change .
Only when justice is found then can we strive for compensation .
Finally healing cam begin .
So where is the justice for the millions of people who starve each day .
Many organizations work hard at bringing that about .
Complacency is a footstool that brings an excuse to comfort the wealthy who refuse alleviate the suffering of disadvantaged people .
So bring on the media intervention into their living room .
If they are shown that world outside their safety zone they have a chance to do something or continue to ignore the injustice of poverty in the world .
Television and newspapers can be one way to introduce this but now there is another that involves music , rock and roll . Bob Geldorf and Bono have put together some concerts and have opened up the eyes of the blind to the horrors of poverty and starvation to millions around the world .
The outcome was a massive response that resulted in some justice with some of the third world debt being cancelled and food and clothing for the homeless and hungry .Compensation is on going because no one wants to accept the blame for all those people who have suffered .
Lingering scars still are in need of healing .
We are living in the 21st century and some of these wounds are still long and festered memories with a famine ravaged people . The Irish had also been hurt during the Famine that devastating the land in the 1840s ,
The Hunger Cry Of 1847
By Paul McCann
The woman reaped her crops no more .
The rocks where all that remained .
The wind it blew through the fields .
It echoed the words ,
Who's to blame .
As children died and the people cried .
It was a hungry cry .
Didn't anyone hear her cry?
Merciful God please help us .
Lend a hand .
For the people of Ireland .
Where is your justice ?
History speaks in Ireland .
The tear stained pages fulfill .
Don't turn your back on the wind .
Mother Ireland is weeping still .
Who was to blame indeed and where was the justice for those people who died starving on the side of the roads in Ireland for the want of a bite of food .
I often think if there had been multi media back what a difference it would have made to the millions of Irish who died and left Ireland during the famine years . Here we are now over 150 years down the track and hunger still remains a daily existence for people in places like Haiti .
Haiti suffers not only from political instability but from natural disaster as well. In 2004, the country suffered horrendous flooding from storms, destroying thousands of homes and livelihoods. The country's infrastructure is virtually non-existent, making access and security huge challenges for relief agencies.
An estimated 80% of people live below the absolute poverty line of $150 a year. Basic needs include: food, clothing, health, and shelter. The under-5 infant mortality rate is 123 per 1,000 births .
You can dissect this and analyse this .but what ever way it comes out there is never any excuse for it .
Excuse Us From Excuses
By Paul McCann
I have something to say - It will not go away .
Excuses are exit's .
We’re not to blame today .
We are not the kind of people who make a fuss .
Its mans inhumanity to man . God save us ..
May future generations in the years to come
be saved because we tried to help everyone .
There’s no excuses please for being who we are ,
There’s no excuses for driving the nails so far
We crucified the best excuse we ever had .
Jesus made excuses for us
-they’re not so bad .
Forgive them he said .
But who can justify that ?
Thye know not what they do ,
They don’t know where its at ..
You'd think we'd know better after two thousand years , but excuses remain .
We all still have our fears .
Bless me Father for we have sinned .
That’s an excuse .
Father, it's been a long time since our first excuse.
I know that there must be somebody we can blame .
In the name of God there's always someone to shame .
Nothing to pay and no time to pray .
Excuses . Nobody is ever right or wrong .
Excuses .
In the end it will work out all right .
Jesus says ,
Love one another .
Shouldn’t we do as he says ?
Feed the hungry , cloth the naked and do not kill . in the name of God or love or what ever will ,
Let us put an end to the problems and make it right . There are no excuses for the day when its night
Do not let love be an excuse to overthrow .
Save us from being loved if we need to be so .
The nameless ones are shameless ones never the less ,
You love the world so much ,
but Lord it's in a mess .
