From the beginning of time when sound gave anthem to life , an accompanying harmony brought a translation of music into the world .
God’s love for creation swept across the hills and plains with a voice gently rolling through between valley , mountain and sea .
Before rock and roll existed there was blues and gospel , beyond this was
what we call classical music . Looking back into the mists of time the music was played on harps , pipes , lyres , ancient stringed instruments , trumpets , horns and flutes blasted out in songs of praise to the creator of life . Ancient tribes hammered upon wood and with anilmal skins they discovered the drum .
Poems became songwriters and music began a new direction with vocalists translating stories and images of life and the environment .
With the discovery of radio waves it wasn’t long until music was recorded , for broadcast and then along came the big thing , money .
I remember someone saying to me about music that there are two kinds of people , those who make money and those who make music .
Somehow I think music had been hijacked and the rules and structure that applies with music is often dictated by professionalism .
Admittedly within music there must be an understanding of temp and time and even the written notation between the bars on a staff .
Members of a group be it in a four piece band or a large orchestra require direction and structure to keep the movement tight and in proper time .
The singer requires the knowledge when to come in and where to break as does the soloist or musician who may have to fill or play in between certain sections in a written piece of music .
Musicianship is fantastic but rthat is still not all there is to music .
The hidden factor required is called the gift of music and that is something no one can teach or give or steal .
Music is life and life is music . The need to share it with other people
creates a harmony between us .
Music has an important role in the lives of countless people through the generations past and with those still to come .
Tod ay in the 21st century music is big business . It has become a global marketable successful product controlled by people who decide what will be accepted and who will become famous in their time .
At times its good to take a step back and look at where we are at in life .
The essence of our being is a soulful vibration filled with whatever experiences life brings us .
If our existence in this world can be related to a piece of music , how much importance do we put on money and how much on the gift .
I’d like to say that the truth to our existence is like the gift of music .
It is there to be enjoyed , to be seen and to be heard .
We need to live in harmony .
So for all those people who have had no proper training with music ,
or for those who maybe blind or handicapped , marginalised or poor ,
my advice and answer is to believe in yourself and that all you do .
With belief and perseverance there is hope and sometimes that is all there is . Hope in the gift of music and everything else will fit into place .
Along the way music will bring hardships and challenge .
Without belief in your gift ,music can chew you up and spit you out from its mouth , because the fact is if there are so many well trained musicians and composers out there who find it hard to gain success , what chance is there for those without training or any understanding of the rules and fundamental roots of music Music does allow gifted people to get through the obstacles and through the hardships so long as there is a genuine dedication and belief in the gift individuals may have .
There is a place in the world for some who are gifted with music .
Along with any success it is almost certain that there has been a lot of suffering as well . That is how the gift becomes acknowledged in self realisation of what life means to each of us and who we are .
The gift can be a voice for those who have none , it can be an answer for those who would question who ,what , why , where or when .
There will always be another song to write or sing for another generation as long as life goes on .
The End
