Addressing the importance of Irish music and its input in the world
is an issue I feel I must do . As a matter of fact during the last one
hundred years the diversity of Irish music has introduced as equation
so complex that unless it is addressed we could loose the answer it has
brought into the world today .
With the band aid project live aid and live 8 many Irish musicians have
been building a legacy of tomorrows where poverty and ignorance will be
a thing of the past . Apart from his music Sir Bob Geldorf has also
contributed to other areas of the constitution and development of
nations . Bono from the Irish Supergroup U2 has been on a mission for
many years to wipe out the debt owed by the worlds poor countries to
the wealthy .
Summing up Irish music in general as a the product I think bears the
hallmark of who the Irish are as an export in todays multi-talented and
multi-cultural world .
The direction of Irish music today has an appeal that pleases all
facets of modern society . The high class and the low and even
somewhere up the sides and down the middle, over the top and back again
is where Irish has to go in order to be in tune with life in the hard
times and the good times .
Somewhere there comes a time to celebrate this great gift the Irish
have given all over the world .
At this point I would like to mention the major role Irish music has
provided to the identity and the character of other nations through the
eyes of its emigrants and their descendants .
Countries like America Canada England New Zealand , South Africa and
Australia are very proud of today of their Irish connection and they
have had that reflect back at them through Irish music .
From the Irish traditional to the original and on to the more
progressive styles the world has to give recognition to the Irish for
having made such an impact in the world . Here in the 21st century we
have reached an important milestone on the journey and we need to
celebrate the gift that the Irish have brought .
For such a small nation it is amazing that no matter where in the
world you go you will find the Irish in some bar or club or concert
hall playing their music to packed audiences .
Irish music and song has been something the Irish have suffered for and
for many years were oppressed for and now at last they are being
appreciated for
The reason it has lasted for so long is due to the fact it had been
born in suffering and hardship . It has survived through the ages and
now is alive and growing . Many countries have benefited by the Irish
impact .
Musicians and bards had a mission to write songs and poems for the
future . Today we share an image of what life was like for them . They
left us a legacy That legacy has become a vital source of strength and
courage .
The world today is gripped by wars and conflict , thankfully we have
music to help us live together in peace . Thankfully we have Irish
music to give reason to our multicultural society . Irish music is a
witness and as long as people enjoy it then we can say to the rest of
the world yes there is a way .
Yes we can live as one even though we are different .
The Irish and their music seem to have the answer that the world needs
to hear . We must never become lost or confused amidst all the
aggression that surrounds us in the world today .
With Irish musicians and songwriters to share their our vision of hope
and faith and love I believe we can all exist and dance the same dance
and sing the same song even in the company of strangers .
Let us sing and to give a expression to who we are in this world we
live in .
Isn't it really what life is all about ?
C'est La Vie , a sense of mysticism in the world we live today .
What a great wealth we hold .
I was going to mention all the names of Irish artists and musicians who
have found their vocation in the world but I wouldn't have enough room
to write them down . There would be so many names on the list it would
take a library to hold the books . So let me just say thank to all of
them for their contribution and you all know who you are .
