Chapter 7

 

Letters For Santa 

 

 Santa went into his office and started going through the sacks filled with letters from all around the world . He had letters from little children , prisoners , soldiers , doctors and nurses and they all had to be read and attended to . Because of the various requests and information each letter had , Santa had to separate the letters into groups. There were boxes for all the children in hospital , there were other boxes for sad letters , others for the worried and lonely , rich and poor , others boxes that required a reply and in the top drawer of his desk he would put his favourite letters and on Christmas Eve before his flight he would select Santa’s favourite letter and that he would read to everyone in Toyland and the person who wrote that would receive a very special gift for Christmas .

Santa sat at his desk reading out each letter,

Dear Santa , 

Its Annie from Shantytown and I’m going to be in hospital this Christmas . So, I won’t be able to leave out your cookies and hot chocolate . Please can you leave my Christmas presents in the Children’s Hospital . 

Thank you. 

Have a great Christmas .

 

“Oh Dear , Poor little Annie , not let me see what I can bring her to help her have a happy Christmas  “

He  wrote a note on the letter and filed it away .

 

He reached into the sack and took out another letter and began to read ,

Hello Santa , Its Tommy Goodfellow ,

My Daddy lost his job last week  , are you able to find him a new one Because he’s very worried about not having enough money for Christmas .

That all I want this year for Daffy to be happy ‘

Thanks Santa , Have a wonderful Christmas .

 

“I’ll see what I can do Tommy and maybe there’s even room in my sleigh for that new bike you’ve been wanting . Ho Ho Ho“

 

Now who is this letter from ,

Dear Santa , 

It’s me little Sara Jones and I’m going to be feeling so left out from the crowd this Christmas because we have moved into a new hou8se in a new town and I don’t know anybody here and I’m starting a new school in the new year and I’m not  sure if they will like me there . Can you bring me , a pussy cat this year . That’s what  I really need and if you could include some cat food as well  Thanks Santa .

 

‘I’ll .bring you a very special kitten Sara . One with soft cuddly fur and a lovely purr that’s playful and happy  “

 

Now who can this letter be from . The hand writing looks like it’s from a grownup .,

He opened up the letter and started to read ,

 

Mmm, ,

“I used to think I was tough Santa m then I went to jail . So here I am in prison writing you a letter . I wish you could set me free from this place but I understand that’s not possible but if you can be my little boy Danny a cowboy suit with a hat and one of those six shooter cap guns with a holster it would make him happy . 

Thanks Santa . You’re the best .

“ Even bad boys can be good Johnny . I make sure Danny gets his cowboy outfit “

 

One by one Santa read through every letter and on Christmas Eve night , he picked his favourite letter and read it out to everyone in Toyland,

Sitting in his big red armchair in front of a with a microphone he held up the Christmas Card and said .

“This is my favourite letter this year ,

Dear Santa ,

I searched and searched for hours to find a Christmas card for you .
I read each verse with its message and looked at the picture too .
The glitter covered cards where nice , they sparkled a rainbows hue ,
The expensive cards when opened, would play jingle bells for you .
The where pictures of snowmen with scarf's , with clay-pipes if you please ,
Pictures of Santa with his reindeers , others with snow on trees .
When I read each card I found that the same words would reappear ,
They all said , Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year .
I was in a dilemma , trying to pick a card for you .
Then I almost heard Baby Jesus say , any card will do .
When love is remembering someone , it’s really not that hard .
It’s just because I care for you .that I’m sending you this
Santa thanks for making everyone’s Christmas happy this year.

The world is really a much better place just because you’re here .

“Ho Ho Ho and away we go , lets get this show on the road .

 

He went over to the sleigh and waved goodbye . The sleigh took off into the sky for another Christmas once again .
