I held her hand and she held mine
our fingers locked intertwined
We walked side by side
and step by step
Until the waters edge
where we paused a while
I held her gaze and she held mine
We had everything except for time
We kissed, we laughed,
we cried, we shouted,
we spoke, we whispered,
and none of it counted,
I kissed her lips and she kissed mine
we told our sorrows over dry white wine
Then she went,
she left,
I'm on my own,
I've never felt this alone,
Yet i laugh, i cry,
i speak, i shout, i whisper,
and i kiss.
Because it doesn't matter,
it wasn't perfect,
just close.
So close but it missed.
