Wallflowers
See, what I like about you,
Is that you seem to like me too
It’s the way your solemn eyebrows move,
The blood in your bruise,
The mascara on your pillow and the bows on your shoes
It seems, to me, that I neglect these touches to often
Euphoric tears on your breasts
Your pubic hair in the shower, moist and softened
Wallflowers know all the secrets
But wallflowers are too bashful and blue
You may stand in the corner, observing the jackals
But while you watch, you should know that I’m watching you
Bleed more mascara onto your lap
One more cigarette and it’s time for a cab
One more cigarette, still, and a lonely nightcap
Who’s watching the wallflowers?
And who’ll notice if you slip out of sight?
Keep watching from a distance, wallflower
And I’ll keep an eye on you tonight
