D'you do voodoo?

I was told that there was a voodoo doll made in my image but I found that very difficult to believe at first. People just don't do that sort of thing anymore. Well, it seems they do! When I was confronted with this rather accurate image of myself, I was struck by the fact that this one seemed different from the idea I had in my mind about what these things were like. It was in very good condition and well kept. But then I realised that there were no pins stuck in it...there was no indication that any knives had ever been poked into it.
There was no burning of the doll and none of the limbs or the amazingly detailed fingers had been cut off...
Strange...what kind of power did this thing have over my life? To what end was this object made? Where did the magic lie? Then, I realised what it was that they had done. I let the doll drop from my fingers... Worse than any blade or needle, they had simply made the doll...with a sad face.
