its all gone, now-
my gilded glasses broke
the spray painted layer of bad gold
chipped,
and i remember when you'd say,
to me;
please don't, please don't get dressed
already
and i'd think , for you,
for you i'd burn all my clothes,
i'd make a little fire of my dresses
on the platform of your gilded mind.
but it's all gone, now,
and i remember how you'd say
to me,
at 3am when i smoked and drank water
and ashed in the glass and got up,
'please, don't get dressed yet,
already.'

'I'd think, for you I'd burn
'I'd think, for you I'd burn all my clothes,' - a great expression of remembered love. Opening with the fact that it's 'gone now -' the gilded glasses having broken, etc. adds so much to the feeling of disappointment which comes accross in the main body of the piece. The last little scene is so well portrayed and telling. I like this poem very much for its unassuming style. It's simply put, but there's more to it every time you look.

This is beautiful. It seems
This is beautiful. It seems so honest and yet when you look closely, it changes into something else and the meaning shifts. Poetic trickery at its best.
