Christmas at Macy's

Yellow Cabs swarm. Lovers embrace.
A small child laughs, joy on her face.
Grown-up’s press pause on a life too fast,
Reliving childhoods long in the past.
Christmas trees lit. Snow on the ground.
Chestnuts roasting. Queues all around.
Shop windows crammed with only one reason,
To help us celebrate the holiday season.
Ice castles sparkle. Bright red balloons.
Tinkling sounds and Christmassy tunes.
Everyone under the holiday spell,
Making memories and stories to tell.
White blinking lights. Bright winter sun.
Everyone seems to be having such fun.
Shopping bags filled; stuffed and brimming,
Flowing over with presents and trimmings.
Children stood staring in wonder and awe,
Trying to remember all that they saw.
A kiss, a smile, a hug from the heart;
Over too quickly, then lovers depart.
