Passionfire

I felt your heart beat in the rain, steady
soundtrack to our April days,
kissed the sweet curve of your jaw
as the only part of you I could reach
As you detached my fingers from your sleeve
Grey torn umbrella, grey sky, grey eyes
Patent toes dragging tracks across the pavement
As your monotone, soft words repeat...
'I would light a fire for you
Ignite white-hot desire for you
Burn a forest into glowing embers
Raze whole cities to the ground
My love is violent, my love is unsteady-
Fission fusion explosion
I can't bear to hurt something as rare
As you; could never
Pluck your body from the wreckage.'
I could light a million suns for you,
softly extinguish you with my light,
press your burning hands between my own
and whisper tiny quenching words
your flame bright warming globe
Limbs contort, kneel in the gloom
trembling lips find liquid sorrow.
Raindrops patter mute mourning song
Of 'He loves me, he loves me, he loves me not'.
For fear of today you destroyed our tomorrow.
