Ceviche

My daughter got sea monkeys, when she was three,
Into their fortress she poured the powder,
I thought ‘how hard could it be?’
Before long it was like seafood chowder!
Little Creatures going around,
With crowns on their heads,
One in particular I found,
To be causing the others dread.
My daughter nickname him ceviche,
He ate everything in sight,
With the castle breached,
Alone he did fight.
The more he ate the bigger he got,
With the whole colony gone,
Almost as big as a yacht,
He looked like a big prawn.
Into a new enclosure,
He found it very lonely,
Because he had composure,
He made the place homely.
We had to resort to fish food,
There was no other option,
Ceviche picked it up and chewed,
He looked like a Martian.
But he was happy out on his own,
He had no one to bother him,
He ended up just growing and growing,
So big he could no longer swim.
Into a third tank he was placed,
The biggest I could find,
Soon his body was encased,
His size sea monkeys not designed.
One day he popped up his head,
Just to say ‘hello,’
My daughter's face was full of dread,
The complexion pale as snow.
His teeth Sharp, is body hard,
He climbed out of the tank,
My daughter was caught off guard,
Her heart just suddenly sank,
I was astonished of the size,
Ceviche grew to be,
The cause of his demise,
Sadly it was me.
My daughter cried, her heart broken,
In one way she was sad,
I gave her a puppy as a token,
And didn't feel so bad.
