Savi I met at twenty one,
T'was the summer,
We had some fun.
His caramel skin,
That cheeky smile,
Not feeling ‘It’,
I ran a mile.
At twenty three,
More mature,
Who could it be?
Savi unsure.
His eyes twinkled
Like the stars,
Conformity sprinkled
Life behind bars.
Me finally admitting,
To being gay,
His faith fitting,
He had to pray.
He wanted babies,
And to be wed,
I gave him a maybe,
The thought I dread,
Of walking down the isle,
My dad in toe,
To a man,
It’s a hard no!
The twinkle gone,
The fat lady sung!
Conformity, none,
I think I’ve won!
