First summer rain

I close my eyes as the first summer rain
Gently clashes and cascades down the window pane.
I look down and see a small pair of army green
Wellington boots, standing in a slowly trickling stream
Meandering its way to the nearby mouth of the ocean.
I hear the heavy waves crashing, creeping ever closer, in the
Distance as high tide approaches. The smell of the salty sea
Overpowers that of the fresh babbling brook.
I feel the refreshing cold water hit my boots cooling
My body as the sun rays beat down on my heavily
Sun screaned shoulders. Within the peaceful
Serenity of nature, the birds chirp, fighting
Over fruit off the bushes along the abandoned dirt road.
I jump as a knock hits the window shocking
Me back to the present. I look out to see Spencer,
The annoying seagull, tapping his beak at his
Reflexion thinking it’s another bird. I open the
Back door to shoo him away all the while
Smiling at the memories of the holiday
Country cottage of my past youth.

Nice dream sequence with
Nice dream sequence with those green wellington boots. I enjoyed walking through your summer poem and meeting that silly seagull. It was fun and wistful and I love a good summer rain too.
