The Secret

Everyone has a secret!
That’s very personal to you.
A source of jubilation,
Or something you have to work through.
My secret is peculiar,
As I don’t want to lose weight,
‘It’d be good for your health,’
Is the big debate.
I’m an obese woman,
As tall as I am round,
This weight is part of me,
Its psychologically bound.
Every time I stand
On the scales that weigh,
‘Please be the same,’
I secretly pray.
Deep shame envelopes me,
Into a horizon dark,
Trauma the cause,
Abuse the spark.
The hold it has,
Over my body now,
Makes me feel imprisoned,
By a closed in window.
I talk about my trauma
It is a past event,
Where over the years,
Hours of reminiscing spent.
No tape will fix it,
It has to come from me,
I need to be rid of it!
I need to be free!
