What's in a name?

What’s in a name? It’s one of the first gifts you will ever receive, and what a gift it is! It’s one of those things you recognise since the day dot as your parents have drilled it into you! It's part of your identity, something no one can take away from you!

A name is such a powerful symbol be it first name or surname! There are families in which a name is passed down from generation to generation. I know a guy who is William the 3^rd   intending on calling his firstborn son William the 4^th. It’s just tradition in his eyes.

When your ears hear your name, even if you happen to be daydreaming, you respond to it. It’s the first thing you say about yourself when you go to an appointment, or a meeting. When you marry, you have the choice of taking on your spouse's name. When you say ‘I do,’ you commit your life to this person, so why not commit to their name as well?

What a gift a name is! It’s imperative that you honour and cherish it, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, until death rips it from you!
