don't think you are the first
to have complaints about your life
existence is in essence
a continuance of strife
.
we all bow down to God
and knees will always tend to bruise
.
adam was the first to sing the blues
.
God created woman
from a rib, it has been told
to be companion to the man
to reprimand and scold
.
sure, man required some company
but now he pays his dues
.
adam was the first to sing the blues
.
women bear our babies
so the populace lives on
this act of procreation
has been going on since dawn
.
but kids will drive you crazy
they will addle and confuse
.
adam was the first to sing the blues
.
we all will face temptation
it is everywhere we turn
resist it, you'll find heaven
you embrace it, you will burn
.
it must be crowded down in hell
that's not surprising news
.
adam was the first to sing the blues

I like it! I am now trying to imagine Adams' blues as a twelve bar ballad. Perhaps the words 'beware that lovin' feeling  take care-it's a snake in the grass' would be the opening line!'         Elsie

Well, he was warned the 'blueing' or 'greying' of this life once he'd disobeyed (rebelled), but salvation promised.
