life's made up of patches

like a crazy quilt parade

there's often great decisions

and some others, best not made

sometimes our minds are brilliant

and then other times quite dim

just like some wacky melody

inside a sacred hymn

we sail through life together

and we fumble on the way

you have some moments that are blonde

i have some moments, gray

we laugh out loud when fingered

like a routine, well rehearsed

we know it won't be long

before the roles will be reversed

sometimes our minds may wander

as we speak our words out loud

we find our shining glory

disappears behind a cloud
