BORN THIS WAY

when people show up in this world
they don't come with a guide
nor bear a little tag
that lists ingredients inside
.
though shaped by their surroundings
it is easier to say
i cannot help what i've become
i just was born this way
.
some people strive to rise above
and elevate themselves
one's education grows
by taking books off of the shelves
.
the truth can be discovered
black and white pulled from the gray
but some will use the lame excuse
i just was born this way
.
we all are prone to errors
no one's perfect, all are flawed
but those who learn from their mistakes
are people to applaud
.
but some repeat tomorrow
things that tripped them up today
and then in their defense, they state
i just was born this way
.
whenever people fall in love
things change up quite a bit
they want to shine in other's eyes
much more than they'll admit
.
they learn to love themselves as well
when caught up in love's sway
you've made me someone i admire
i just was borne this way
