CHINESE CADAVERS

i saw this giant billboard
so i thought i'd mosey down
to see the exhibition
that had just rolled into town
.
this show featured cadavers
every one of them, chinese
whose bodies had been sliced and diced
as pretty as you please
.
you saw their vital organs
stacked up neatly, still inside
their bones wrapped up with muscles
and like strings, with tendons, tied
.
i wanted to take photographs
but i was filled with dread
signs that said "no photographs"
were hung above my head
.
but when that docent's back was turned
i whipped my camera out
and snapping surreptitiously
i crept and sneaked about
.
i felt a little guilty
though i wasn't wracked with shame
i knew that it was wrong of me
but did it just the same
.
a part of me was proud, i guess
a little wink and smirk
but strangely, on the next day
found my camera didn't work
.
now you may think i'm crazy
and it may just sound perverse
but those chinese cadavers
wrecked my camera with a curse
